Simon Cowell Reveals the One America's Got Talent Act He's Still Waiting to Find

It's a tall order!

By Christopher Rosa

America's Got Talent has introduced the world to a wide range of performers: singers, dancers, comedians, ventriloquists. You name it, AGT probably has a Contestant who can do it.

How to Watch

Watch the Season 19 premiere of America’s Got Talent Tuesday, May 28 at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock

But there's one Act that has evaded the AGT stage for 16 seasons now, and Judge Simon Cowell is hoping it will appear for Season 17.

"I want a dog that can play the guitar or the drums," he told Access Hollywood in April. (Watch his interview in the above video.) "That I'm still waiting [for]."

He added, "Someone came on [the show] once and said, 'My dog can play the guitar.' And I'm like, 'Brilliant!' And [the dog] just went like that." (Cowell then mimicked a dog raising and slamming its paw, which is...not exactly musical!)

"That's not playing the guitar," Cowell said. "I want a few chords!"

So, is a corgi who can play a few chords in the cards for America's Got Talent Season 17? Unclear, but Cowell did open up about how the Contestants have been so far during filming. "We started the first two days, genuinely, I thought, 'This is 'gonna be a disaster this year,'" he said. "Everyone was terrible. And then after day three, it turned a corner, and thank God it got better and better and better. Great Golden Buzzers. Acts I've never seen before. It was interesting, the people are interesting, the stories are interesting. The talent's great. I know a lot of people say that, but genuinely, it really, really is. This show, for whatever reason, it does attract really interesting people."

And fans will get to see them when AGT Season 17 premieres Tuesday, May 31 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
