Miles Teller Opens Up About 'Whirlwind' SNL Hosting Experience
"You're working with the absolute best of the best."
The Saturday Night Live Season 48 premiere is star-studded. Actor Miles Teller of Whiplash and Top Gun: Maverick fame will be the celebrity Host, while the critically-acclaimed rapper Kendrick Lamar is the musical guest. (The episode airs October 1st at 11:30/10:30c on NBC and will be simulcasted on Peacock.)
"It's really exciting," Teller explains to NBC's Mark Barger. "You're working with the absolute best of the best, so you feel well taken care of, but it's a lot. It's a whirlwind."
Teller says he's been a lifelong fan of Saturday Night Live and was more than eager when he got the call from the show. "I think about how many really funny people there are [on SNL] and how many of them are just as good a writers as they are performers, and I think that's saying a lot," he says.
He continues, “Its such a collective effort and it's nice to be part on an ensemble."
As for the live format, he's loving it. “You get to kind of let it fly a little bit and enjoy it with the audience," he says. And to deal with the pressure of the night, Teller has a great motto: "Trust the process."
"It's a formula they've been doing for a long time," he says. "So to steal a phrase from the Sixers, 'Trust the process.' I think that is kinda what you're doing."
