Mariska Hargitay — and Her Cat — Had the Best Birthday Shoutout for Taylor Swift
Hargitay's kitty, Karma, is named after a line in one of Swift's songs.
What, you don't have a dedicated Taylor Swift shelf in your home? Then you're obviously not as much of a fan as Law and Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay, who showed off her collection of Swift paraphernalia in a sweet post for the singer's 34th birthday.
Mariska Harigtay's birthday message for Taylor Swift
"Happy Birthday @taylorswift ♥️karma," Hargitay wrote under a picture of her sweet Siamese cat stretched out on a shelf in her home. Also on the shelf are two popcorn buckets from The Eras Tour Movie, which Hargitay attended the premiere of, both of which have been turned into Christmas tree holders, and they're adorned with friendship bracelets collected at the tour itself.
Hargitay also appears to have two "Taylor's Version" vinyls in her collection: Speak Now and 1989. As one fan commented, "Imagine Mariska Hargitay having a shrine of you in her house Taylor winning yet again." Added another, "The friendship bracelet christmas tree!!!! you’re just like us 🏻." Yup, Swiftie status confirmed.
Mariska Hargitay names her cat after a Taylor Swift song
Hargitay and Swift have a long history together. Olivia Benson, Hargitay's character on the long-running show, inspired the name of Swift's cat Olivia. So when Hargitay adopted her own kitty earlier this year, she decided to return the favor and called the feline Karma after the line in Swift's song, "Karma is a cat, purring in my lap 'cause it loves me...me and Karma vibe like that." (Swift's other two cats are named after Dr. Meredith Grey and Benjamin Button.)
"Are you serious?!!!! Nothing has ever come more full circle ⭕️ LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! 😻" Swift commented on Hargitay's post announcing the cat's name and adoption into her family.
The TV star appeared in the pop singer's video for the song "Bad Blood," took the stage during a 1989 Tour performance in New Jersey, and attended the most recent tour twice: once with her daughter Amaya, and once with Reese Witherspoon. Amaya even got to hang with one of Swift's besties, Selena Gomez, during the show, while Hargitay watched with TODAY cohost Savannah Guthrie. During a trip to the farmer's market in NYC, Hargitay stepped out in, of course, her Eras Tour sweatshirt.
