Country star and American Idol Judge Luke Bryan praised The Voice Coach Blake Shelton’s legacy and the impact he’s made for country musicians on television.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Getting the news that Blake’s leaving The Voice. We’ve talked about our careers in those roles. Blake was a big reason why I decided to do American Idol,” Bryan told Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton in a November interview. “Him stepping down from The Voice, I know he's ready, he's ready to move to the next chapter. It's gotta be a good feeling. I wish him nothing but the best, and I thank him for paving the way for there to be a voice of country music on TV like that."

Shelton announced in October 2022 that Season 23 of The Voice would be his last. “I’ve been wrestling with this for a while, and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after Season 23,” Shelton said in a statement. “This show has changed my life in every way for the better, and it will always feel like home to me. It’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns, and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people; you are the best."

Shelton is the only Coach who has been with The Voice consistently since its first Season. The news of his departure created emotional, bittersweet reactions from his wife Gwen Stefani, The Voice Host Carson Daly, and fellow Coaches John Legend and Camila Cabello.
