Kelly Clarkson can do it all! On the March 28th Kelly Clarkson Show, she brought her own unique twist to the '80s power ballad “(I Just) Died in Your Arms” by Cutting Crew.

The performance started out with some slow and dramatic piano notes. “I just died in your arms tonight, it must’ve been something you said,” Clarkson started in a perfectly controlled tone.

“I just died in your arms tonight, I should’ve walked away,” she continued while pulling off a heavenly vocal flip and riff before her voice gave a crescendo.

Then, the funky drums and bass kicked in. “I keep looking for something I can’t get, broken hearts lie all around me, and I don’t see an easy way to get out of this,” Clarkson crooned smoothly. “Diary, it sits by the table, the curtains are closed, the cat's in the cradle, who would’ve thought that a girl like me could come to this."

Then, she gave it all for the chorus. "I just died in your arms tonight; it must’ve been something you said, I just died in your arms tonight, I should’ve walked away,” she continued with passion.

When it was time for the bridge, the song took an intimate turn. “It was a long hot night, he made it easy, he made it feel right,” Clarkson sang in front of some subdued red lighting. “But now it's over, the moment has gone, I followed my hands, not my head, I know I was wrong." She then hit an ultra-high sustained belted note.

“I just died in your arms tonight, it must’ve been something you said; I just died in your arms tonight, I should’ve walked away,” she sang at the top of her lungs before bringing everything to a conclusion with a soft, vulnerable tone.

Clarkson is clearly a fan of covering some ‘80s bops. Earlier this month, she sang a groovy rendition of “When I Think of You” by Janet Jackson.

“It's when I think of you, baby, nothing else seems to matter, cause when I think of you baby, all I think about is our love,” she sang the chorus, swaying to the rhythm while the enthusiastic crowd bounced up and down on their feet.
