Elle Fanning Just Convinced Us She Looks Like a Certain Male SNL Alum

"It's the nose," Fanning said. "We look like we live in Whoville or something,"

By Samantha Vincenty

Elle Fanning is an accomplished actress, currently up for a Golden Globe for her role in the series The Great. She also happens to be stunning, which is why Jimmy Fallon took issue with her insistence that she resembles a beloved Saturday Night Live alum. And no, it's not Kate McKinnon or Kristen Wiig

How to Watch

Watch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC weeknights at 11:35/10:35c and next day on Peacock

Fanning visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on December 11 to talk about being honored for her work as Empress Catherine II on The Great, and acting alongside Sarah Paulson in her Broadway debut, Appropriate. During her chat with Fallon, she shared her celebrity twin theory.

"You were telling me that the last time you were at an awards show, you spent most of your time trying to find a celebrity that you think you look like," Fallon said.

"I think I have a doppelganger out there, 100 percent," Fanning confirmed. "At the Emmys last year, I was on the hunt for Bill Hader. I think that I look like him."

At this, Fallon scrutinized Fanning with a doubtful expression on his face. "Do you own a mirror?" he asked.

Elle Fanning thinks she looks just like Bill Hader, and the internet agrees

Fanning told Fallon that her friend found a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) that provided side-by-side shots of Fanning and Bill Hader. This, she insisted, is compelling proof of their resemblance.

"It's the nose," Fanning said. "We look like we live in Whoville or something," she added.

Fanning recruited Nicholas Hoult, her The Great co-star, for the awards show Hader hunt. "And we found him—but he was in a mask," Fanning continued. "Which I thought was a good thing, because if he wasn't, people probably would have gotten us confused and mixed us up."

While Hader's mask prevented them from taking a picture together, she did tell him about "the doppelganger situation."

While Hader was flattered, "he didn't agree with me!" Fanning told an unsurprised Fallon.

After I saw this, I go, 'I kinda get it,'" Fallon admitted. Watch the interview above to see if you agree.
