Peacock just announced thrilling news for fans of romantic comedies.

Elizabeth Banks has partnered with Matthew Macfadyen to star in, and executive produce The Miniature Wife, a Peacock comedic series inspired by author Manuel Gonzalez’s masterpiece short story of the same name. The latter is a fantastical and surreal piece about a man who accidentally shrinks his wife, and we can only imagine how the story plays out in a rom-com series with two of our favorite actors.

What is The Miniature Wife about?

“The Miniature Wife is a high-concept marital dramedy examining the power (im)balances between spouses,” Peacock wrote press release announcing the series March 25. Banks (who plays Lindy) and Macfadyen (who plays Les) will “battle each other for supremacy after a technological accident induces the ultimate relationship crisis.” To add even more intrigue, Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner are the show creators, the writing team behind the hit TV shows Goliath and Boardwalk Empire, not to mention the high-octane action series Banshee.

Where have I seen stars Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen before?

Three-time Emmy-nominated actress Elizabeth Banks is perhaps best known for her memorable role as the pink-haired Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games franchise. Banks also lit up the big screen in the musical comedy Pitch Perfect, which she then spun into the Peacock TV series Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, serving as the show’s creator. And of course, she had a recurring guest role on the hit NBC sitcom 30 Rock.

More recently, she voiced duck mom Pam in Migration, a highlight of Universal’s animated feature about a Mallard family flying south for the winter.

Who could forget Macfayden’s Emmy-winning performance as deeply troubled husband Tom Wambsgans in Succession? We have to wonder if he’ll bring some of his character’s signature neurosis to The Miniature Wife. The English actor rose to fame as Mr. Darcy in the 2005 classic Pride & Prejudice and went on to star in Frost/Nixon. This summer, he joins the Marvel universe in Deadpool 3, and he’s set to play an assassin in the forthcoming Death by Lightning, a biopic of U.S. President James Garfield.

There are no details about a release date yet, but you’ll be able to find all the episodes of The Miniature Wife on Peacock when it comes out.
