When the ex-wife of a struggling comic book artist is abruptly killed in the midst of a bitter divorce settlement over the custody of his young daughter, he starts having increasingly disturbing nightmares featuring the terrifying creations in his own sketches. Realizing he isn't the only one who has these recurring visions, he begins to suspect his late wife might be the one trying to communicate with him from an alternate dimension.
