Meet the Talented Cast of Peacock's Praise This

Praise This is a new original movie from Peacock with a cast that's filled to the brim with talented singers and performers.

The Peacock original movie Praise This will be a high-energy, praise-filled romp featuring singing, dancing, and performances from its star-studded cast. All that starts with making sure incredibly talented people are onscreen bringing the story to life.

Praise This tells the story of an up-and-coming musician whose ambition leads her to her cousin’s praise group in Atlanta, where similar youth gospel performers are highly competitive and bursting with talent — the kind of talent you can’t fake. So, they didn’t.

Before they win your heart with their gospel music on April 7 when the movie hits Peacock for all to see, we thought it’d be a good idea to get to know the cast members now.

Chlöe Bailey

Bailey stars as Sam and is perhaps best known as being one half of the music duo Chloe x Halle with her sister, Halle Bailey. The Grammy-award nominated artist is no stranger to showing off her impressive pipes as well as her acting skills. Fans of the TV show Grown-ish may recognize her as Jazz or as Marissa from Swarm, but those are hardly her only acting credits to date. She’s more than ready to tackle being the lead in an original movie like Praise This

Anjelika Washington

Washington plays Jess, Sam’s cousin who gets her into the world of praise teams. Previously, she played Beth Chapel (aka Doctor Mid-Nite) on Stargirl as well as Fareeda in the Tall Girl movies

Tristan Mack Wilds

Wilds appears as Pastor Nick "PG" Goodman in the movie. Viewers may recognize him from his time on HBO’s The Wire or as Dixon Wilson on the CW revival of 90210. He was also featured in Adele’s hit music video for Hello. In addition to his acting chops, he is a successful record producer and musician.

Quavo

Quavo, born Quavious Keyate Marshall, is best known as a rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer who co-founded and fronted Migos alongside his relatives Takeoff and Offset. In addition to his success as a musician, he’s also found a lot of work acting in various movies and music videos. He plays Ty, a musician who takes notice of Sam and encourages her work with the praise team.

Birgundi Baker

Baker is an actress best known for TV roles in shows like Empire, Chicago Med, Chicago PDBlack Lightning, and played Kiesha Williams on the hit series The Chi

Crystal Renee Hayslett

Hayslett is a producer and former costume designer for film and TV projects. Those who tune into Praise This may recognize her from the series Zatima where she reprises her role as Fatima from the series Sistas.

Loren Lott

Lott appears in the movie as Kelly, but she has previously been on TV as Ana on the hit soap opera The Young and the Restless. In addition to her film and TV work, she has also performed on stage and dabbled in voice acting.

Jekalyn Carr

Carr is a multiple award-winning recording artist who has been nominated for Grammys. A lot of her background is in gospel music, so she is a fitting addition to the cast. In addition to her music work, she is also an author, entrepreneur and public speaker.

Koryn Hawthorne

Hawthrone is a contemporary Christian music and gospel singer who will for sure bring some authentic praise team talent to the show. If she looks familiar, you’re probably a fan of The Voice. In Season 8 she was a finalist on the show as a member of Pharrell Williams’ team.

Drew “Druski” Desbordes

Desbordes plays Aaron. While he doesn’t have as much film and TV experience as his co-stars, he’s a prominent Internet personality who has been featured and collaborated with various musical artists.

Catch Praise This on April 7 and more movies on Peacock now.
