Usher Accepts Key to the City of Las Vegas with Emotional Speech: "I'm a Praying Man"

The former The Voice Coach called the town his "second home."

Usher is now the King of Sin City!

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

On October 17, the former The Voice Coach (Seasons 4 and 6) was given a major honor: a key to the city of Las Vegas. Better yet, that date has been officially named as Usher Raymond Day by the city itself.

The Grammy-winner began his critically acclaimed residency, "My Way - The Vegas Residency", in 2021 and has since been dubbed the New King of Vegas by GQ. The show consistently sells out and has become one of the hottest tickets in town with videos going viral of celebs like Keke Palmer, Zendaya, Issa Rae, and the Kardashians enjoying the performance.

Usher gets a key to Las Vegas and new holiday in his name

Usher gave a moving speech at the event to show his gratitude.

"This city has really represented something of belief to me. Belief that the impossible could happen," he said wisely. "That wasn't just about me, I'm a man for the people. I'm a man for entertainment. And entertainment has been my tool. But that belief that was placed the moment that I came here, the roots that now have grown to a Superbowl moment is something to be recognized."

He continued, "I'm a praying man. So I know I'm not alone in that prayer process. But I'm so happy that it happened here. I could have never calculated that. But I know that true belief in something always manifests in something greater. So believe. Don't just hope, believe."
