Natasha Lyonne Hosts SNL With Musical Guest Japanese Breakfast

The Host and musical guest for Saturday Night Live's May 21, 2022 episode have been announced, and we are ending the season on a high note. Read on for more details.

Who is hosting the May 21, 2022 episode of Saturday Night Live?

How to Watch

Watch Saturday Night Live Saturdays at 11:30/10:30c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Natasha Lyonne!

This will be Lyonne's SNL hosting debut. The actress has a filmography that spans decades, but she's perhaps best known for playing Nicky Nichols on Netflix's Orange Is the New Black, for which she received an Emmy nomination in 2014. She's currently starring in the second season of Netflix's Russian Doll, a show that earned her three more Emmy nominations in 2019. Up next for her is Poker Face on Peacock.

"I might wear black clothes and smoke cigarettes, but in many ways I’m an optimist and believe in this underlying good-natured, happy ending type of shit," she told W magazine earlier this year. "There’s so much evidence to the contrary, in our society constantly, and yet I want to believe in us... At some point in my life, it was time to abandon the idea of going to a party having this cynical attitude of, like, standing against the wall and being like, 'This party sucks. These people are stupid.' It’s like, 'No, man. You’re at that party. Make it better.'"

Who is performing in the May 21, 2022 episode of Saturday Night Live?

Japanese Breakfast!

Headed by Michelle Zauner, Japanese Breakfast developed a cult following thanks to their experimental pop sound but have since accumulated a much larger audience. Their latest album, 2021's Jubilee, received a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album. “After spending the last five years writing about grief, I wanted our follow-up to be about joy,” Zauner said about the project.

Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
