La Brea's impressive ensemble cast brings plenty of drama to the NBC sci-fi series, leading to wild fan theories and a finale that left us with plenty of questions. And one of our favorite characters? Izzy (Zyra Gorecki), the youngest member of the Harris family who, with her father, is determined to save her mom and brother. Below, everything we know about Gorecki and what's next for her character Izzy.

Who is Zyra Gorecki?

How to Watch

Watch La Brea on NBC and Peacock.

Gorecki is a Michigan model who, like her character Izzy, is an amputee. The actress lost her leg in a logging accident when she was 14 years old.

"As an amputee, you bring a totally different mental state to a character with an amputation," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "For Izzy, I know what it’s like to experience the pain, the emotion, the life that comes with being an amputee. So I understand her reactions and choices in a way that a fully limbed person wouldn’t."

The La Brea star explained to Glamour that she first heard about the role while going to Camp No Limits, a camp specifically for children with limb differences. A friend and fellow actor told her about the opportunity.

“I adore that they wanted an actual amputee for the amputee character. Huge," she said.

What happened to Izzy on La Brea?

After Izzy was able to escape the sinkhole (unlike her mom, Eve, and brother Josh), the teen spent the rest of the season trying to figure out the mystery of the sinkhole and how to save her family alongside her father, Gavin (Eoin Macken).

In the Season 1 finale, Izzy, Gavin, and Ella successfully jumped through a sinkhole that led to Seattle 10,000 B.C. The hope is that they're able to travel to L.A. and help their loved ones. The only problem with that plan? Without modern comforts, traveling more than 1,000 miles thousands of years in the past is bound to come with plenty of obstacles.

Season 2 of La Brea finds Izzy surviving in 1,000 B.C. alongside her family, becoming a critical member of the survivor group as they desperately work to find a way back to the modern day. The third season picks up with Izzy, Josh and Gavin working to find their mother Eve (Natalie Zea) after she was pulled into a portal and lost in time at the end of Season 3.

Is Zyra Gorecki in La Brea disabled?

Yes. Like her on-screen counterpart, Gorecki is also an amputee just like Izzy. The actress lost her leg in a logging accident when she was 14 years old. Gorecki reportedly heard about the part of Izzy while attending Camp No Limits, a camp created for children with limb differences, and was inspired to pursue the role in the NBC drama.

Watch La Brea on Peacock and on NBC.
