We've heard Kelly Clarkson cover an array of pop, R&B, and even punk Rock hits in the past, but a song from a Broadway musical under her repertoire is rarer. Luckily, a throwback video from 2012 gave us an inside glimpse of Clarkson singing a classic musical theater tune to perfection. More specifically, she sang a rendition of "My Man" from the 1965 Musical Funny Girl, a tune made famous by the one and only Barbara Streisand.

Before jumping into the song, Clarkson asked the crowd at Radio City Music Hall if they were Broadway fans. Given that she was performing in New York City, she was met with a round of energetic cheers. She then referred to herself as a "Broadway nerd", and elaborated that her impressive pipes were actually inspired by Streisand, who she also happens to share a birthday with.

The wonderful performance started out with some relaxing piano notes. "Oh, my man I love him so, he'll never know, all my life is just despair, but I don't care," Clarkson crooned in a unique jazzy tone. "When he takes me in his arms, the world is bright, all right. What's the difference if I say, I'll go away, when I know I'll come back on my knees some day? For whatever my man is I am his forever more" she continued with some impressive vibrato.

Then, the rest of the instruments kicked it as Clarkson's vocals built up in intensity. "Oh, my man I love him so, he'll never know, all my life is just despair, but I don't care, when he takes me in his arms, the world is bright, all right," she shook things up by hitting a belted sustained note. "What's the difference if I say, I'll go away, when I know I'll come back on my knees some day? For what ever my man is I am his forever more," she brought the song to an epic conclusion in a perfect musical theater tone that would make her birthday twin proud. And of course, as always, the crowd went wild.
