Gwen Stefani Just Called Blake Shelton Her 'Favorite Award' in a New, Sweet Speech

Gwen Stefani's won many awards over the years, but she knows the most important one is her marriage to Blake Shelton.

In late October 2022, Stefani proudly accepted a Matrix Award in New York City, which honored her prolific career, from No Doubt to being a Coach on The Voice (alongside Shelton). The best part? The award was presented to her by none other than Shelton himself. The country star gushed that he was “very excited” and “extra proud” of his wife during his speech.

When it was Stefani’s turn to say a few words, she said, "Obviously, my favorite award ever, Blake Shelton, for marrying me. Wow, this is surreal—weird Blake talking about me like that. Thank you so much, you're such a babe, and you're so awesome." 

Before the red carpet ceremony, the "Sweet Escape" singer also spilled details about the couple's exclusive get-together celebrating the anniversary of their first date night seven years ago. "It feels exciting to be here in New York with Blake because the last couple of years, we just really don't go out very much, unless we're just at home or on the set of The Voice. So we went out to dinner last night, we had fancy food [and] wine, we're in a hotel room. It feels like a date night weekend for us, so a lot of reminiscing," she said.

The two met when Stefani joined The Voice as a Coach in 2014. And during an interview with NBC Insider, she revealed a twist: She didn’t even know Shelton existed before the show. However, she added that she was drawn to him immediately upon meeting. “I did my homework and I could see that he was an amazing songwriter, and then I could see everybody falling in love with him,” she said.
