Chicago Med's Luke Mitchell Kinda Looks Like His Adorable Dog, Alfie

The Chicago Med star and the pup certainly share a resemblance.

By Jackie Manno

Chicago Med's new face has an IRL twin! (Well, sort of).

How to Watch

Watch Chicago Med Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

On March 7 Luke Mitchell, who plays the new guy in town Dr. Mitch Ripley, posted a photo of himself and his adorable dog, Alfie. In the snapshot, Mitchell dines at a restaurant and Alfie obediently sits next to him, perched on a seat as they both look at each other. But the best part? They both have the same long, shaggy golden brown hair!

''The best good boy 🐶❤️ #Alfie,'' Mitchell captioned the post.

We got introduced to Mitchell playing Ripley during Season 9's premiere. Although dashing and suave, he comes with a mysterious past

“It turns out that he has an old and difficult relationship with Dr. Charles [Oliver Platt],” Chicago Med executive producer Andy Schneider told NBC Insider. “And he carries some resentment to Charles for that past. Charles himself has to do some soul searching, and kind of reflect on how he treated people in the past.”

Dr. Ripley is “a very smart guy from a very rough background,” Chicago Med executive producer Diane Frolov revealed to NBC Insider.

“He had a troubled childhood, but looking at him you wouldn’t know that,” Schneider added. “He’s moved on and he’s a really good doctor. He’s got wonderful bedside manner — good with kids, good with patients, and to everyone else in the ED, he’s a charming new addition.”

Ripley has also caught the eye of Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram). "Hannah is dating," Schneider told us. "She’s out in the world of dating apps and not doing well with it. But there is this really handsome, new guy [Ripley] coming into the ED — and charming."

Chicago Med 901 Mitch Ripley

As for Mitchell himself, he hails from down under, and got his start in acting doing Australian soap operas. Currently 38 years old, he's been married to actress Rebecca Breeds for 10 years. His other roles include Lincoln Campbell on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Roman Briggs on NBC's Blindspot, and Ken on Legacies and Cormac Barnes on Big Sky.

Following the announcement of his casting on Chicago Med, Mitchell took to Instagram to share the news with fans.

''Dr Mitch Ripley coming at ya early 2024! 😉 #ChicagoMed @nbc,'' he captioned the post.

''Lucky to have ya!" co-star Jessy Schram commented in support.
