Pope Francis appoints America’s 1st Black cardinal

On Sunday, Pope Francis appointed 13 new cardinals, including Wilton Gregory, the archbishop of Washington. He becomes the first American elevated since 2016 and the first Black American cardinal ever. NBC’s Anne Thompson reports for TODAY.
