Actor Bio

Amber Riley will star as Addaperle in NBC's upcoming holiday production of "The Wiz Live!"

Riley is best known for her role as Mercedes Jones on Fox's Golden Globe- and SAG Award-winning musical comedy "Glee," for which she received three consecutive NAACP Image Award nominations and two consecutive Teen Choice Award nominations.

In 2013, Riley won Season 17 of ABC's hit competition series "Dancing with the Stars," alongside partner Derek Hough.

She will next be seen starring in UP TV's movie musical "My One Christmas Wish," set to air in November. The film is inspired by the true story of Jackie Turner, a straight-A college student who was abused and abandoned as a child. Turner turns to Craigslist to post a want ad to find a family with whom she can celebrate Christmas.

Riley got her first big break when Ryan Murphy cast her in the pilot "St. Sass." Although the pilot was not picked up to series, she was able to use that experience to land a role on the series "Cedric the Entertainer Presents."

She has performed in numerous theater productions, including "Alice in Wonderland," "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "Into the Woods" and "Mystery on the Docks" with the Los Angeles Opera. In 2012, she made her New York stage debut to strong reviews in New York City Center's Duke Ellington's "Cotton Club Parade."

Riley previously served as an ambassador for VH1's Save the Music Foundation and as a member of Seventeen magazine's Body Peace Council.

She is currently in the studio working on her debut solo album.
