Stephanie began performing in church with her mother in the seventh grade. She never saw herself as a singer, always excelling in school and athletics. When Stephanie was 17, her parents found love letters she'd written to girls, and she suppressed her feelings due to her father's threats. After Stephanie met her first girlfriend at 18, her parents cut off their relationship. With little money, she moved to Houston with a cheap car and a guitar. She worked at Baylor College of Medicine and became a published author in the International AIDS Society. She gigs with local band Colonial Blue and has been engaged to her fiancée, Janeth, for a year, but put off the wedding to pursue music.
