Lin-Manuel Miranda is a Tony-, Grammy- and Emmy-winning composer, lyricist and performer. He starred in and wrote the book, music and lyrics for the smash Broadway musical Hamilton, which won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize in Drama and 11 Tony Awards. Miranda previously starred in and wrote the music and lyrics for Broadway's In the Heights, which won four Tony Awards in 2008. In 2017, Miranda scored an Oscar nomination for the song "How Far I'll Go" from Disney's Moana. Miranda is also co-founder and producer of the hip-hop improv musical group Freestyle Love Supreme on Broadway. He can be seen in a live recording of Hamilton and In the Heights on Disney+. In November 2021, Miranda's film, Tick, Tick... Boom!, was released, as well as the Disney film Encanto. Miranda was an integral part of creating the music for Encanto, including the song "We Don't Talk About Bruno." Most recently, Miranda wrote songs for the Disney film Mufasa: The Lion King, which premieres in theaters in December 2024.
