Idina Menzel Talks Wicked Cameo, "Let It Go" White House Introduction and Full-Circle Redwood Moment

Actress and singer Idina Menzel is best known for her roles in Broadway’s Rent and Wicked. She originated the role of Rent’s Maureen Johnson in 1996 and reprised the character for the 2005 feature film. In 2003, Menzel originated the role of Wicked’s Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, winning a Tony Award for her performance. The actress also memorably portrayed the biological mother of Lea Michele’s character on FOX’s Glee and sang the Oscar-winning song "Let It Go" from Disney’s Frozen. Menzel returned to Broadway in 2014 for the musical If/Then and released the album Holiday Wishes. She has also appeared in the films Uncut Gems, Enchanted and Cinderella and recently released her clothing line, Encore, in May 2022. Menzel can next be seen in the Broadway musical Redwood, which opens February 13 at the Nederlander Theatre.
