Author Fran Lebowitz first came to fame in the early 1970s when Andy Warhol hired her to write a column for Interview magazine. In 1978, Lebowitz published Metropolitan Life, a book of essays, followed by Social Studies three years later. Both books became New York Times best-sellers and were reissued as a single volume called The Fran Lebowitz Reader in 1994. Since 1997, she has been a contributing editor and columnist for Vanity Fair. In 2010, Martin Scorsese profiled Lebowitz in the HBO documentary Public Speaking. Lebowitz's speaking tour, An Evening with Fran Lebowitz, kicks off in Fall 2024.
