Dolly Parton is a Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated country music singer-songwriter, actress and author. She has scored 25 No. 1 songs on Billboard's Hot Country Songs charts, 44 Top 10 albums on the Top Country Albums chart and has sold over 100 million records. Additionally, Parton has starred in the films 9 to 5, Steel Magnolias, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Rhinestone and Straight Talk. In 2018, Parton released the soundtrack for the Netflix film Dumplin', for which she recorded six new songs. Parton also starred in the NBC special Dolly Parton: 50 Years at the Opry, which premiered in November 2019. Most recently, Parton is making headlines for her donation to the Vanderbilt University medical center that is responsible for the Moderna vaccine that is currently testing at 94.5 percent effective at protecting against COVID-19. Beyond this, Parton also staged a socially distant performance in the Macy's 2020 Thanksgiving Day Parade.
