Benedict Cumberbatch is an Oscar-nominated and Emmy Award-winning British actor who first came to fame for his performance in 2007's Atonement. Three years later, he was cast as the title character in Sherlock, a role that would help him become a star. In 2011, Cumberbatch starred in War Horse and Tinker Tailor Solider Spy, followed by Star Trek Into Darkness, 12 Years a Slave and August: Osage County in 2013. He also voiced the Necromancer and Smaug in The Hobbit trilogy. Cumberbatch scored his first Oscar nomination in 2015 for The Imitation Game. More recently, Cumberbatch played Alan Turing in 2014's The Imitation Game, scoring his first Oscar nomination, and portrayed Marvel's Doctor Strange in 2016. He can next be seen in The Current War.
