Played by Monique Gabriela Curnen
Monique Gabriela Curnen stars as Becca Vlasik, an integral member of the OPCON team, on NBC's upcoming action thriller series "Taken."
Curnen first caught the eye of the industry with her earthy sultriness as Ryan Gosling's fellow teacher and love interest in the critically acclaimed film "Half Nelson," but it was in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" that she captured the attention of fans worldwide as the tough yet vulnerable Detective Ramirez.
Curnen's other notable films include Justin Lin's "Fast & Furious," "Contagion," "Maria Full of Grace" and the thriller "Legacy: Black Ops," in which she played the romantic lead opposite Idris Elba. On television, she has had diverse appearances on show such as "Elementary," "Sons of Anarchy," "Lie to Me," "The Following," "Person of Interest," "Longmire" and "The Unusuals."
In addition to her work on the big and small screen, Curnen has also appeared Off-Broadway in "Pentecost" at the Barrow Group Theater.
Curnen and her three brothers were raised outside of Boston. Her mother is from Puerto Rico and her father is a New Yorker of Irish and German descent. Both educators, their interests in the arts fostered an atmosphere of creativity in the home. On a trip to watch one of her older brothers perform in a school orchestra, she was captivated by the acting and production, which inspired her to act in school plays.
After exploring other academic and creative avenues in college, Monique moved to New York after graduation to begin her career in theater.
