California Governor Zack Morris closes multiple low-income high schools, relocating Daisy, Aisha and DeVante - former Douglas High School students - to Bayside High School, the richest school in the state. As they start over in this new environment, they befriend Mac (Governor Zack's son), Lexi (a reality TV star) and Jamie (the school's most popular athlete). However, their transition is not seamless, with the Bayside parents opposing their arrival and creating "Parents Integrating Teachers and Youth," a group marked by stereotypes and judgments toward the new students. Despite the backlash, the Douglas students are mentored by Principal Toddman, Coach A.C. Slater and Counselor Jessie Spano, who go out of their way to ensure the students' success. With the help of their new friends and mentors, Daisy, Aisha and DeVante discover their passions, voices and identities as they navigate the new world of Bayside High.
