Peter Gerety stars as Desmond Timoney, Jane's (Maria Bello) supportive and vibrant father in NBC's gritty crime drama "Prime Suspect."

Gerety is a familiar face in the television and film industry. His television credits include "Brothers & Sisters," "The Wire," "Law and Order," "Third Watch," "Conviction" and "Central Park West."

His feature films include "How I Spent My Summer Vacation," Clint Eastwood's "The Changeling," George Clooney's "Leatherheads," Spike Lee's "Inside Man," "The Legend of Bagger Vance" and "Mrs. Winterborne."

Gerety worked predominantly on stage for over 30 years, performing in over 100 productions, including the Broadway production of Martin McDonagh's "The Lieutenant of Inishmore," "Never Gonna Dance," and numerous productions on and off Broadway.

After years in the industry, Gerety is an accomplished director, primarily with the Dallas Theater Center and Trinity Rep.
