A basketball team manager’s moment bigger than the game

When the junior varsity basketball team at Philip Simmons High School was closing its season earlier this month, team manager and freshman Carson Watters was surprised with a moment to shine on the court. Playing sports means everything to Carson, but because he has Down Syndrome, keeping up with other kids has been challenging. So, when coach Ryan McCauley waved Carson onto the court for a chance to make a shot, he kept trying till he made it in. NBC News’ Kate Snow shares Carson’s family and team's emotional reaction to the big moment.
