Martha Stewart & José Andrés Explain What It Takes to Win Yes, Chef!: "More Than Good Food"
"For far too long, the pressure of the kitchen has been an excuse for out-of-control behavior," Martha Stewart says in a trailer for reality cooking competition series Yes, Chef!

Countless reality show contestants have faced the camera and proclaimed, "I didn't come here to make friends, I came here to win." But, on NBC's new cooking competition show, the chefs might just actually have to make friends in addition to making impressive dishes if they want to take home the $250,000 grand prize.
Lifestyle icon Martha Stewart and celebrity chef and humanitarian José Andrés serve as hosts and judges on Yes, Chef!, a new series that pits 12 chefs against one another in a competition to see which can master a hot stove and hot tempers. A new trailer for the series, which debuts on Monday, April 28 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC following The Voice, teases the action to come.

"For far too long, the pressure of the kitchen has been an excuse for out-of-control behavior," Martha says in the new spot (below). "We’ve gathered 12 professional chefs, each with one thing standing in their way: themselves."
The trailer previews some of the bad behavior that Martha and José aim to address. One hastily brags that they "cooked asparagus next to Julia Child," while another selfish cook takes every single egg in an attempt to get an unfair advantage over his competitors. The egg-stealing prompts another chef to call the thief an "arrogant, pompous little-man syndrome chef."
"Wow, it looks like Hunger Games!" José quips.

The hosts are well equipped to help the dozen chefs on the show become their best selves; José is a respected and outspoken humanitarian, and Martha is a home-keeping expert who has weathered a few controversies herself. ("Martha and I, we’re no saints," José says in the trailer, prompting Martha to joke back, "I am!")
"In our kitchen, it takes a lot more than good food to win. You’ll need to figure out how to work together," Martha says.
"It is a chance to transform your career and yourselves," José adds.
