Why Michael Bublé Said, “You Guys Suck!” After No One Applauded for This Voice Artist
They weren't trying to be shady! Here's what happened during Knockouts.
The one thing you can't practice in a rehearsal room? The experience of being in front of a crowd. Coach Michael Bublé jokingly ribbed the small audience (the in-house band) in the rehearsal room at The Voice after one of his Artists didn't get any applause, but there's a simple reason for the silence.
Adam David's The Voice Season 27 Knockout recap
For his Knockout performance, singer Adam David chose "Unaware" by Allen Stone, a song about making it through tough times. He dedicated it to his mom, a single mother by choice after she conceived him through artificial insemination. At rehearsal, he delivered the song beautifully, and his Knockout opponent Carlos Santiago even said, "Adam's voice is what I wanna be when I grow up."

Their Coach, Michael Bublé, was impressed as well, telling the room, "Ladies and gentlemen! Give it up for Adam!" But no one gave it up. Why? Well, the in-house band and crew members are apparently told to make as little noise as possible so that the mics can pick up the Artists and Bublé. Good behavior for a television set, but a hard room to play to as a singer. Bublé playfully quipped, "You guys suck as an audience, let me tell you."
Michael Bublé likes getting the audience involved on The Voice
If it seems like Bublé is especially attuned to audience reactions, it's because he loves to get the crowd involved in the performances, and the rest of the show. After his fellow Coach Kelsea Ballerini asked The Voice audience to sing "Happy Birthday" to her boyfriend Chase Stokes, Bublé decided to make a video for his wife. She was "at home with the kids," he told the crowd, and instructed them to say, "Michael Bublé is incredibly good-looking" for a video.

The Artists would do well to learn from Bublé. Not only does he have multiple Grammys to his name, he won The Voice in his very first season as a Coach, and is definitely looking to make that win a double. He didn't come here to make friends; he came to win.
You can watch The Voice Season 27 on Mondays at 8/7c on NBC. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
