Why Fans Say Mariska Hargitay Is "Benson Undercover" in Epic Paris Vacation Pic

Instagram comments are flooding in, and the consensus is unanimous: "Captain Benson is taking over Paris."

By Christopher Rosa

Mariska Hargitay recently went on a trip to Paris, and she's been sharing photos from her adventures to Instagram. Naturally, she's hit up all the iconic spots: the Louvre, the Joan of Arc statue, and even a detective's building.

How to Watch

Watch Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Thursdays on NBC and next day on Peacock.

OK, that last one maybe isn't iconic for Paris, but it certainly is for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit fans. Hargitay just so happens to play Captain Olivia Benson on that show — formerly known as Detective Olivia Benson. So Hargitay posing in front of a detective's office in Paris is a cheeky little nod to her on-screen alter-ego.

In a photo shared to Instagram, Benson looks effortlessly cool in front of a sign that reads "Duluc Détective." She's wearing jeans, a black sweater, and scarf, accessorized with chic sunglasses and boots. The shot is definitely giving off-duty Benson, and fans are living for it.

"This picture gives Benson undercover vibes," one fan wrote.

"Captain Benson is taking over Paris," posted another.

"Paris looks good on you, Captain," a third added.

And here's another pic from Benson's Paris trip. In the same outfit, she's sitting on the floor of what looks like a museum (presumably the Louvre).

Benson is currently starring in the historic 25th season of Law & Order: SVU. It's been a landmark year for her, as she also turned 60 in January

“I’m so excited [about turning 60]. I announce it constantly. I’m proud of it. I’m stronger than I’ve ever been,” she told People. “The age thing was never something I was scared of. I didn’t get cast until I was 35, and then the show kept going as I aged. At 45, we’d been on for 10 years and I just met my husbandThe man of my dreams. I got married at 40. I had [my son] August at 42. So it was like defying all the odds."
