Rebecca's Song on This Is Us, 'The Forever Now,' Earned an Emmy Nomination

Another excuse to go stream the song right now!

By Christopher Rosa

This Is Us earned a 2022 Emmy nomination for Rebecca's song, "The Forever Now," the Television Academy announced on Tuesday, July 12.

How to Watch

Watch This Is Us episodes on NBC.

"The Forever Now," which appeared in This Is Us Season 6, Episode 13 ("Day of the Wedding"), was nominated for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. The music on the track was composed by Siddhartha Khosla, and the lyrics were written by Taylor Goldsmith, who happens to be Mandy Moore's husband.

Rebecca (Moore) performs "The Forever Now" during the reception of her daughter Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Phillip's (Chris Geere) wedding. It's an emotional scene, as the Pearsons are worried Rebecca won't be able to sing the song because of her Alzheimer's, but as Phillip assures Kate, "Once she finds her key, she'll lock in." And Rebecca does exactly that.

"The years can be counted in seconds," Rebecca sings on the track. "That's fine with me, 'cause I get this moment with you forever now."

Moore congratulated Khosla and Goldsmith on the Emmy nomination via Instagram Stories on July 12.

"So unendingly proud of @siddkhoslamusic and @taylordawesgoldsmith for getting an Emmy nom for their song 'Forever Now' on our final season of #ThisIsUs," she wrote, according to People.

This Is Us ended its six-season run in May 2022. "I don't think I fully processed it yet, like I get emotional thinking about it," Moore told Today in May about the show ending. "It was probably more emotional being on set for a lot of my other friends' last day. I was there for Susan [Kelechi Watson] and for Chris Sullivan. Sterling [K. Brown] and Chrissy [Metz] and Justin [Hartley] shot the next day, but Milo [Ventimiglia] and I wrapped together and Chrissy, Susan, and Sterling all stayed around a couple hours after they were done with work to watch Milo and I wrap. That's how we feel about one another."
