Why Cara Brindisi's Taylor Swift Blind Audition Made Camila 'Sabotage' Another Coach

Playful sabotaging, of course.

Cara Brindisi Sings Taylor Swift's "All Too Well" with Country Flair | Voice Blind Auditions 2022

For her Blind Audition on The Voice Season 22, Cara Brindisi gave herself a tall order: "All Too Well" by Taylor Swift. But the big swing paid off: Brindisi earned chair turns from both Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, initiating yet another couples' battle.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

And to make things more interesting, Camila Cabello—Shelton's (joking) nemesis on the show—actually pushed for Brindisi to choose Team Blake, a move that (playfully) ruffled Stefani's feathers. "I don't know what Camila was thinking," Stefani said in the episode all in good fun. "I thought we were some kind of team, and then all of a sudden she tries to sabotage me!"

To be fair, Cabello had good reasons for thinking Brindisi would be good on Team Blake. When the 36-year-old singer said she responded to music that tells stories, Cabello said, "Somebody who likes to tell stories? Sounds like a Blake kind of [Artist]."

"What the hell?" Stefani said, feigning shock at Cabello's statement. "Are you serious? I thought we were besties!"

But of course, Shelton lapped this all up, saying cheekily, "I agree with everything Camila's saying."

In her defense, Cabello told Stefani lovingly,  "If I was on this stage, I would choose you as my Coach. However, I'm like you. I feel like [Brindisi] is like Blake...Blake is always talking about the story and the thing and the that!"

Indeed, it seems Brindisi is inspired by country songwriting, and Shelton told her, "Clearly, I heard the country side of you. I heard some twang coming out of your voice, and it was ringing my bell. It really was...I heard something I haven't heard this entire season. I want this girl on my team."

That said, Stefani didn't go down without a fight, telling Brindisi,"I don't think it matters about genre as much as it matters about heart. Music is the vessel to that, and I'd love to work with you."

Ultimately, Brindisi surprised herself and the audience and picked Team Gwen. But will she bring the competition home? To find out, watch The Voice on NBC Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock.
