Meet The Hunting Party Killer Roy Barber: A Police Sketch Artist with 16 Victims & Counting (EXCLUSIVE)
Shane Florence is right to describe Roy Barber as "cocky as hell," but that's not all...
Every episode of The Hunting Party sees the titular team come together to debrief on the week's escapee of choice, and Episode 5, "Roy Barber," is no different. In this NBC Insider exclusive first look at the episode, Rebecca "Bex" Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh), Jacob Hassani (Patrick Sabongui), Shane Florence (Josh McKenzie), Oliver Odell (Nick Wechsler), and Jennifer Morales (Sara Garcia) gather once again at their high-tech HQ to discuss their latest mark.
Meet "The Couples Killer"
Known as "The Couples Killer," Bex is quick to point out that this was a guy the team might have studied at the FBI Academy in Quantico. From there, we get into the nitty-gritty details, with team lead Odell taking the reigns.
"Roy Barber, born to Lou and Lois Barber. He was raised on an isolated pecan farm near the Florida/Georgia line, until at 14, his father killed his mother in a murder-suicide," Odell explains to the larger group. "After bouncing around various juvenile detention centers, Barber moved to Orlando in 1988 where he started making a living as a caricature artist outside of amusement parks."
"Ew," Morales quips, turning her nose up at the potential for inherent creepiness.

Unphased by the interruption, Odell continues: "Starting in '93, Barber terrorized the roads of Florida and Georgia for nearly a decade, hiding out at rest stops waiting for his ideal pray: romantic partners. He murdered 16 people — one couple every 10 to 14 months — leaving no trace of his victims except their blood-drenched vehicles.
"Finally, in 2001, a hunting dog caught a scent in the marshlands near Orlando," Odell says. "Local authorities were able to recover the skeletal remains of Harry Caldwell; he and his wife, Bridget, had disappeared six months earlier. It was this discovery that cracked the case and ultimately led to Roy's arrest."
Grisly stuff — but that's not all!
Bex jumps in to add the final detail, noting that Roy's discovery ended up being a "PR nightmare" for the local police force.
"Why?" Shane asks

Because, Odell replies, Roy had moved on from being a caricature artist to a police sketch artist. He was working hand-in-hand with the cops... right under their noses.
