The Americas is Celebrating Earth Month With Tons of Ways To Get Involved with Nature
The Americas is hoping to get people out in nature this Earth Month, and here's how.
It’s safe to say NBC’s nature documentary series narrated by Tom Hanks, The Americas, is a hit for everyone with even a passing interest in the natural world around us. Now that we’re approaching the show’s finale just in time for Earth Month, it’s a great time to take that curiosity the show has inspired and bring it out into nature.
If you’ve ever watched an episode in which Hanks narrated the many wonders that can be found in our own backyard, you very likely have felt the desire to get out in nature yourself and safely experience all the sights and wildlife just waiting to be explored and what better time than Earth Month to make that a reality? Well, thanks to various partnerships between NBC, The Americas and organizations like The National Wildlife Federation, LG, AllTrails and Parks Project, there are tons of ways for you to get involved this month all related to the show!
Below are just some of the ways you can come together and get out in nature for Earth Month and The Americas.
Make a pledge to get outside with The National Wildlife Federation
In partnership with NWF, you can join the many people making a commitment so spend meaningful time outdoors with your friends and family by taking The Americas Green Hour Pledge. Meanwhile, if you want to get a little more involved, students and educators can make a plan for their own Green Hour by submitting innovative projects or ideas geared toward getting kids outside to spend meaningful time outdoors learning about the natural world around us through The Americas Green Hour School Challenge. Who knows, you could earn the opportunity to receive grant funding to get your project started!
For those looking to have some fun with The Americas, kids can create The Americas-inspired jokes and submit them here for a chance to be featured in Ranger Rick magazine.
Take a Hike with AllTrails and The Americas
For those who want to experience the many gorgeous wonders they’ve seen in The Americas, AllTrails has curated an impressive collection of 100 trails all inspired by the locations featured in each episode of the show. With the weather getting warmer, now is the perfect time to try hiking or you can use this list to curate a list of places you want to go in the future.
Go Camping with Parks Project
Fans can also enter for a chance to win a stay under the stars through The Americas Parks Project and Under Canvas. They’re giving away a glamping adventure at Yosemite National Park in California to a lucky family of four. It’s the perfect way to take your love for The Americas and bring it to life in one of the country’s most beautiful places.
Create 3D graphic art inspired by The Americas with LG
LG is offering 3D graphic art students a chance to enter its Wonderbox Showcase, where they can bring vulnerable and endangered species featured on the show to life in 3D anamorphic content for a chance to win a cash prize and chat with the series’ creators as well as other wildlife experts. Submissions close on May 19 so if you’re a 3D graphic artist, Earth Month is your time to get cracking on your entry.
