Susan Boyle's Twinkly High Notes Singing Madonna's "Like a Prayer" Are Spiritual
The Got Talent alum covered Madonna's iconic song on her 2016 album A Wonderful World.
Susan Boyle took listeners to church in 2016 with her cover of Madonna's seminal classic "Like a Prayer."
Released off the Got Talent alum's A Wonderful World album, Boyle transformed "Like a Prayer" into a haunting, twinkly church hymn — a fitting mode given the track's title. Boyle's higher register is beautifully on display on this cover, which slows down Madonna's normally-upbeat anthem. Gorgeous orchestral music swells around Boyle's voice, creating an experience that feels almost celestial. Just like a prayer, this reverent take on a pop classic will absolutely take you there.
Boyle is a known Madonna fan, having covered the Queen of Pop's 1995 song "You'll See" on Britain's Got Talent. But Boyle's best Madonna homage is this ode to "Like a Prayer," which reinvents the track in a way its creator would be proud.

Susan Boyle's spirituality
"Like a Prayer" may not be a Christian song, per se, but title-wise, it's right on par with one of Susan Boyle's music hallmarks. Covering hymns and religious music is part of the 64-year-old's DNA. She's lent her pipes to everything from a musical version of "The Lord's Prayer" to "Amazing Grace."

Faith means everything to Boyle, as she told The Christian Post. "It's incredibly important to me on every level," she said. It gets me through those moments of self-doubt and also allows me to understand that this gift of my career, later in life, is from a higher power."
In 2019, Boyle actually sang for Pope Francis at the Vatican's annual Christmas concert.

"To be at the Vatican meeting the Pope was such a humbling experience and to be asked to take part in his Christmas concert was a true honor," Boyle told Metro. "I have to pinch myself at how lucky I am and 10 years on I'm still having the most fantastic time with these incredible opportunities. I don't and won't ever take this for granted."
“Without God, you can do nothing," she told Catholic Sun in 2014. "The kind of gift he’s given me, I have to use for the benefit of others.”
