Grab your briefcases — and sunglasses: A new version of Suits is now coming to NBC, and to the West Coast.

As of February 1, 2024, NBC has confirmed that a spinoff pilot episode of the hit legal drama series Suits, which ran on USA Network from 2011-2019, is currently underway.

Speculation that a potential spinoff was in the works started in fall 2023, when Beatrice Springborn, president of Universal International Studios, spoke at entertainment industry conference Content London. There, she referred to the show as Suits L.A., which has now been confirmed as the show's official title.

“We are working on it right now,” she told the audience, per Variety. She also mentioned that the new series will “have the same energy and good looking people that the original did.”

“It is amazing-looking people in great clothes but at the core of it, you can’t have a show that’s successful with just that. It has to have great storytelling and great character work. So how do you do something that can be ongoing, have a gloss to it and be a continuing series that everyone wants?” she also said of the show's potential and production.

Who is in the Suits: L.A. cast?

Stephen Amell wears a light grey suit for the premiere of "Heels"

In the weeks after the initial pilot order news broke, Suits: L.A. has cast a handful of actors to round out its cast and hopefully bring the same chemistry as the original series' regulars did. Former Arrow and Heels lead, Stephen Amell was the first person cast as lead character, Ted Black. He is described as "a charismatic force of nature who puts his own needs above others. Ted is a former New York prosecutor who joined forces 15 years ago with his old buddy, Stuart Lane, to build an L.A. law firm that specializes in criminal and entertainment law."

Soon after, it was announced that The Walking Dead alum Josh McDermitt landed the role of Stuart Lane, an old friend of Black's who co-founded the law firm with him. He is described as "energetic, powerful, focused and self-absorbed." Joining them will be Lex Scott Davis as Erica Rollins, aa “savvy and strong-willed rising star at the firm who is shrewd enough to test the loyalty of her associates only to admire some of them for not having any.”

Also announced, via Deadline, is Troy Winbush (The Wilds) as Kevin, an old friend of Black who is a former FBI agent and current private detective. Winbush will reportedly be on the pilot in a guest star capacity but is expected to become a series regular if the pilot is picked up. Also guest starring in the pilot, according to TVLine, is Alice Lee (Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist) who will portray Leah, a young associate attorney at Black Lane Law reportedly working under Rollins.

Furthermore, there's no word yet on whether past stars of the original Suits on USA Network will make their way to the city of angels for a cameo or guest role. However, many have said they'd love to.

When does the Suits spinoff, Suits: L.A., premiere?

While it's too early for a premiere date, we know it will air on NBC, and filming will begin in March 2024 in Vancouver, Canada. This time around, the setting will take place in Los Angeles instead of New York City.

Although the premiere date has not yet been announced, we know that the creator of the original series, Aaron Korsh, will be involved in the show's creative choices. We also have a description of the show's general, high-stakes plotline.

''Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved,'' a press release reads.

Stay tuned for more details of the exciting new spinoff.
