Season 14 of America's Got Talent was magical.

How to Watch

The world was introduced to jaw-dropping Acts like Kodi Lee, the Detroit Youth Choir, and one particularly unforgettable teenager: 15-year-old Sophie Pecora.

Today, we're looking back at the stunning Audition performance of her original song "7th Grade" that nobody saw coming — not even the Judges. It was more than just an up-and-coming songwriter singing — and rapping — on the AGT stage for the first time. It was a teenager pouring her heart out on national TV in a moment we'll never forget.

After hitting a few sweet high notes, Pecora launched into a spoken-word rap as she strummed her guitar — and that's when the audience perked up and took notice: She was singing about being bullied in school.

A hushed silence fell over the entire set and left everyone speechless, save for one collective sigh from the crowd as Pecora sang: What do they want /This is a trick, this is a trap / I can't go on, hide in the bathroom 'til they're gone / No way someone would actually want me.

It was one of those legendary AGT moments where not only were viewers blown away by what they just saw and moved to silence, but they considered themselves lucky to have witnessed it in the first place.

What followed was one of the most gratifying and uplifting standing ovations given to any Audition in the show's history. Howie Mandel, in particular, looked like he couldn't even grasp what had just happened! It was that magical.

Pecora's Audition still hits hard, even six years later. But what is the now 21-year-old up to in 2025?

Today, the self-described singer-songwriter, rapper, and poet is still heavily entrenched in her unique brand of music and self-expression.

Pecora is grinding away, consistently releasing new, original songs and performing them on her YouTube page, which has garnered 620,000 followers and counting so far. She released her first EP, Raise the Bar, at the end of 2020, and her second EP, Wildflower, was released in the summer of 2021.

Fans have been regularly treated to new song releases on a near-monthly basis — and Pecora shows no signs of slowing down, even occasionally playing live shows in the Los Angeles area.

Her website bio says it all: she turns feelings into music!
