Reba McEntire Cuddles Young Shelby While Flying the Concorde in This Priceless Photo
The Happy's Place star has been traveling around the world with her son for years.
From going on safari in Africa to hopping on a plane for a birthday surprise, Reba McEntire and her son Shelby Blackstock have been making travel memories for years. Back in 1995, The Voice Coach and her family flew home on the famed Concorde supersonic passenger jet after a trip to Europe and captured the memorable moment in a priceless photo.

In 2015, the country superstar and Happy's Place star posted a throwback photo from inside the plane, featuring her young son sleeping on her lap while her parents, Clark and Jaqueline McEntire, sat in the row behind them. McEntire herself was sporting a grey Yeoman sweatshirt.
"1995 European vacation. Flying home on the Concord [sic] with Shelby, Daddy and Mama," McEntire captioned her Instagram post, which notably showcases the mother-son duo's matching red hair.

Years ago, Concorde jets made transatlantic travel much quicker with a higher price tag, making their final passenger flights in 2003, . according to NBC News.
Perhaps the supersonic, super fast flight was where Blackstock got his taste for speed? After all, he used to be a race car driver and McEntire nearly passed out watching hims race at Daytona for the first time. In a video on McEntire's YouTube channel, the country icon recalled how his career choice came to be. "This thing with Shelby and his racing came out of nowhere ... And it’s always been cars, cars," she said. "He was just so unhappy in college. I said 'Shelby, what is it that makes you happy?' He says, 'racing.'"

McEntire welcomed Blackstock in 1990 when she was 34 years old, and the two are still thick as thieves today. In a 2022 interview with People, McEntire said she and her son are "very close."
"Shelby is a gift from God to me," she said. "We're very close. I was a very self-centered person to a degree before Shelby. But then there's a little character who you are given the job to protect and nurture and love and teach, so all the attention's not on you anymore."
Through the years, the two have shared many special moments together, including Blackstock and his wife Marissa's Walt Disney World wedding in February 2022. On his big day, McEntire danced with her son and even performed her song “Fancy” for all the attendees.
McEntire also often posts sweet photos with her son, especially on his birthday. "One of the greatest blessings God has given me," she captioned a February 2025 Instagram post. "I love you with all my heart, Shelby."
