UPDATEMay 6, 2022 at 12 p.m. ET—An iconic game show is returning to NBC this summer (August 9, specifically), and it officially has a Host: Keke Palmer. A new photo for the show, featuring Palmer and executive producer Jimmy Fallon, was released in early May 2022:

ORIGINAL STORY:

Keke Palmer is set to helm Password, the series in which celebrities are paired with Contestants across the country as they try to guess a mysterious password. The show first aired in 1961, but it has seen many iterations. The most recent is a segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. You've no-doubt seen viral clips of celebs trying their hand at the game, like Jennifer Lopez, Khloé KardashianEllen DeGeneres, Steve Carell, and Reese Witherspoon.

The premiere will honor Betty White, who's been dubbed "Password's Greatest Player." The beloved actress and comedian—who died at the age of 99 on December 31, 2021—first competed on the show in 1961. It's where she met her husband, Allen Ludden, who was the original Host and creator. White had many subsequent Password appearances throughout the decades, including on Fallon's Tonight Show.

"I flew to New York to do a couple things, and Password was one of them," she said in the PBS documentary Betty White: The First Lady of Television"I fell in love with the game. I love the game of Password."

Now executive-produced by Fallon and hosted by the Emmy-winning Palmer (who will star in Jordan Peele's upcoming horror film, Nope), this latest version of Password promises eight hour-long episodes featuring even more famous faces. Fallon will also compete in each round, helping Contestants win coveted cash prizes.

Password will premiere August 9, 2022 on NBC. Watch Password Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC and next day on Peacock.
