Matthew Perry's 5 Friends Co-Stars Release a Joint Statement About His Death
Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow starred alongside Perry in Friends for 10 seasons.
"We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew," it reads. "We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."
Perry died at his Los Angeles home on October 28 from an apparent drowning. He was 54 years old.
Following their 10 season run on NBC from 1994 to 2004, Perry, Aniston, Schwimmer, Cox, LeBlanc, and Kudrow all reunited in 2021 for a television special called Friends: The Reunion. The event consisted of visiting original sets, sharing behind-the-scenes footage, and re-enacting episodes. It marked Perry's final on-screen appearance with the group.
NBC also released a statement: "We are incredibly saddened by the too soon passing of Matthew Perry. He brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world with his pitch perfect comedic timing and wry wit. His legacy will live on through countless generations."

Maggie Wheeler (Janice)
"Matthew was an incredibly generous actor. There was no single time I stepped onto a stage with him that I did not feel lifted by his brilliance," she said. "Even in his darkest moments his comedic timing was impeccable. Matthew suffered so terribly as his book revealed to the world. I hope he is at peace beyond that suffering. He died way too soon and will be missed by all who loved and knew him in life, and as the beloved Chandler Bing.”
Wheeler also posted a touching tribute to Perry on her official Instagram page, sharing a picture of the two in character together during an episode.
"What a loss. The world will miss you, Matthew Perry. The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared."
Morgan Fairchild (Nora Bing)
The actress played Chandler's mom, Nora Bing, on five episodes of Friends throughout its 10 seasons on NBC. In an interview with CNN This Morning, Fairchild called Perry "warm," "wonderful," and "creative."
“The audience has grown up with Matt as their best friend, the person they wanted to be, the person they wanted to meet, know and have as a friend," she said. "I think that one of the bravest things that he did in his career and his life was to go public, to write [Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir], to reach out to other people, to try to be of help to other people. And that was one of the most endearing things about him.”
She continued, "He was just a very endearing, fun, wonderful, wonderful guy, and I send my love and condolences to his family. I just felt that I should do something because for millions of people who watch the show, they sometimes think of me as his mom.”
