Love on the Spectrum's Tanner Got the Most Heartwarming Visit from Jack Black
What a sweet moment from The Kelly Clarkson Show.
There have been too many fantastic moments to count on Kelly Clarkson's self-titled, award-winning talk show, which launched in in 2019. But the April 3, 2025 episode, featuring Love on the Spectrum's Tanner Smith, included a segment that was particularly beautiful.
After Smith gave viewers some insight into what he's been up to lately, like starring in the new season of Love on the Spectrum ("Yes ma'am, I'm going on more dates"), Clarkson reminded him of what happened the last time he stopped by her set: He got a video message from his idol, Jack Black.
As it turns out, one of Smith life goals is to meet the actor.
"I want to be 31 when I meet him," Smith said.
"I'm gonna start this age thing with goals," Clarkson said. "It's a great vision board."
But Smith actually achieved this goal before turning 31. In fact, he achieved it that very day on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Jack Black, who's hosting the April 5 episode of Saturday Night Live, decided to drop by Clarkson's studio to surprise Smith with a visit!

How Smith found this out was so cool. "What's up, Tanner? Jack Black here," Black said, first via video.
"I still cannot wait to meet you in person, but I'm on the road with A Minecraft Movie right now, but luckily, I have insane ninja kung-fu powers — which means I can come through these doors and I'm gonna see you right now," he said.
Then, Black ran out onto the stage to meet an over-the-moon excited Smith.

"Jack, I'm glad to finally meet you!" Smith said as the two hugged. So sweet.
Tanner Smith calls meeting Jack Black the "best day of my life"
"You're so handsome, you're looking good, Jack!" Smith told him after they sat down.
"You know, I do work out a little bit nowadays," Black quipped.
At one point, Black had to take off his glasses because the lenses were fogging up — that's how emotional the moment was.
After Black told Smith how much of a fan he was of him, Smith put everything in perspective for viewers watching at home:
"Thank you so much, Mrs. Kelly, this is the best day of my life," Smith said.
