Turns out, Sheryl Crow and this actress have been friends forever!
The Voice Season 27 Playoff Mega Mentor Sheryl Crow knows the importance of having a strong team around you. In fact, she has a number of fellow artists in her corner, including one longtime friend who was there when her son was a newborn.
Sheryl Crow was once roommates with an Oscar winner
During a chat with Seth Meyers on Late Night, the "If It Makes You Happy" singer revealed that once upon a time, she was roommates with none other than Laura Dern in Los Angeles. "She was very sloppy," Crow said, adding to the camera, "Laura, I’m kidding!"
"She held my baby when he was like…when Wyatt came home," Crow revealed of her and Dern's deep and longtime friendship. Crow adopted her son Wyatt in 2007, and her son Levi in 2010.
About Sheryl Crow's longtime friendship with Laura Dern
Though Crow lives in Nashville and Dern in Los Angeles, they still meet up pretty regularly, attending fashion shows together and the Environmental Media Awards.
When Crow was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2023, Dern was on hand to celebrate her friend. "Sheryl uses her voice as a longtime human rights and climate activist, and I have also watched a vulnerable bravery like I have never known or seen as Sheryl went through breast cancer treatment, and I watched her transform her own experience and gained knowledge into advocacy to help heal so many other women," the Oscar winner said in her speech.
"She’s the kind of friend, when you need support, she just moves you into her house. Literally, I can tell you," Dern added. Sounds like they've lived together through thick and thin.

After completing treatment for breast cancer, Crow decided it was time to fulfill her dream of becoming a mother. "A family doesn’t always look like girl meets boy, they fall in love, they get married, they have a kid,” she told Parade in 2008, per TODAY. “I said, ‘OK, I’m going to let go of what I think things are supposed to look like, because I can’t control anything. When I try to control things, that’s when I keep things from happening.’”
Crow adopted both of her sons as babies. "I was hoping to adopt a [second] child when Wyatt was 2; a lot of the adoptions fell through," she told Redbook. "But things always work out perfectly...for Wyatt, 2 would have been too early. It would have been difficult for his self-esteem. But 3 is perfect."
