See an Exciting Day in the Life of Kelly Clarkson's Band

"I've been working with this team for years, and every day they impress me more," says Clarkson.

By Tayi Sanusi

Since 2019 The Kelly Clarkson Show has brought us everything from top-notch celeb interviews to jaw-dropping covers of hit songs. Although we already know Clarkson is a musical force to be reckoned with in her own right, her house band, Y'all, has consistently been right there by her side!

How to Watch

"One of my favorite parts of this show is getting to start each day covering incredible music," said Clarkson on her show. "It would never be possible without the amazing work of everyone in my band, Y'all. I've been working with this team for years, and every day they impress me more. So I asked Jason, our music director, to take us behind the scenes to show you how they pull of the magic." Watch this behind-the-scenes video, above.

The core members of Y'all

On The Kelly Clarkson Show, Y'all consists of pianist and musical director Jason Halbert, who's joined by Jessi Collins on backup vocals, Jaco Caraco on guitar, Lester Estelle on drums, and Kyle Whalum on bass.

Weekly rehearsals

First stop on the behind-the-scenes train is the rehearsal room! Halbert takes us through the band's weekly music rehearsal.

"[Rehearsals] are when we get to play the most with the band," says Halbert "We have about a three, four-hour window to rehearse all six songs for the week. This is our favorite part."

The "stings"

Halbert explains another fun part of being in Y'all—arranging and performing "stings." Stings are the short musical intros for games and segments on the show. According to Jacob, Kelly doesn't hear the stings until filming, so all her reactions to the quirky elements are unscripted!

"Between the five of us [there's] 80 to 90 years worth of music experience," admits Halbert. "A lot of the credit I get for things is just letting these guys do what they do."
