During her February 25 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Running Point star spoke about the new deluxe edition of her debut album, Glorious, which includes two new tracks. Hudson revealed one of the songs, "Right On Time" is "in honor" of her mother, the legendary Oscar-winning actress Goldie Hawn.

"Did your mom know that you wrote a song about her?" Jimmy Fallon asked his former Almost Famous co-star.

"No, but I did play it for her," answered Hudson. "Which, at first, she was confused. She was like, 'Is that about me?' And I was like, 'Yes.' And she was like, 'Oh, my God!'"

"Then she played it again and listened to it and got very emotional," she said.

"Right On Time" recently was made even more special when Hudson performed the song live on the BBC Radio 2 Piano Room. "I played it with the full BBC Orchestra, and that was really special, because my mom's dad, my grandpa, was a professional violin player," she continued. "So to play that song, oh, my mom just lost it. So that was nice."

The other bonus track on the new edition of Glorious is called "Desert Warrior," which Hudson explained she couldn't put on the original album "because it didn't sort of fit in, but I love playing it live, so I put it on the deluxe."

Speaking of singing live, in May 2024, Hudson appeared on The Tonight Show for her debut television performance, singing "Gonna Find Out" the opening track from Glorious. Delivering unbelievable vocals, Hudson floored viewers, and Fallon, who told her, "You crushed it! You were so good!"

"Now, in reflection, that was just one of the best things ever," recalled Hudson during her latest Tonight Show visit. "Yes, I was nervous, but it was more of excitement that I had made this album and that it was happening."

Kate Hudson and Jimmy Fallon co-starred in Almost Famous together

Kate Hudson and Jimmy Fallon have been friends for more than 25 years, since they co-starred in the Oscar-winning film Almost Famous together. Hudson played the queen of the "Band-Aids," Penny Lane, while Fallon portrayed Dennis Hope, the manager of the band, Stillwater.

"I've known you since Almost Famous," Fallon told Hudson, before joking, "We were in a film together, and, of course, everyone remembers I was in that."

"He did his great Mick Jagger [impression]," she said to the audience.

It's been 25 years, but Penny Lane's legacy lives on — the most recent example being Taylor Swift, who wore Penny's coat from Almost Famous during Super Bowl weekend.

"Almost Famous came out on September 13, 2000... and The Beatles' song 'Penny Lane' was released on February 13, 1967. Taylor's favorite number is 13. What is she telling us?" wondered Fallon, sharing images of Swift wearing the coat — as Hudson joined in saying, "It's getting kind of weird!"
