The Voice Coach's duets with Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, and Nat King Cole are unforgettable.

By Megan Lasher

John Legend joined The Voice as a Coach again for Season 24 alongside Reba McEntire, Niall Horan and Gwen Stefani. But, when he's not leading Team Legend to victory, he's recording music that has made him a household name, including for the holidays.

How to Watch

Over the years, Legend has released a great deal of holiday music alongside his other hits. From a memorable remake of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" with Kelly Clarkson to his very own Christmas album, revisit Legend's holiday music — including his duet of "Hallelujah" with Carrie Underwood, which they performed during The Voice Season 21 finale and you can watch at the top of this post.

John Legen's "You Deserve It All"

In 2021, Legend released the song "You Deserve It All," a sweet holiday bop about how hard it can be to get a gift for someone who deserves the whole world.

The music video for the song features Legend singing in a large house full of Christmas decor, while various holiday scenes of couples and family members unfold.

John Legend's Duet with Nat King Cole: "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)"

Legend worked with Nat King Cole's estate to blend the original recording with Legend's new recording of the song. Though Cole died in 1965, his music lives on, and got an entirely new life when Legend's voice was added to the famous track.

Legend worked at Cole's piano (where the icon) recorded all of his songs, and said that it was "an honor" to do the duet. "He's one of my musical heroes, one of my role models for how I sing, how I phrase, and how I think about music," Legend said.

John Legend's A Legendary Christmas Album

In 2018, Legend released his first Christmas album, which featured six original songs alongside familiar holiday hits. The album was nominated for the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album Grammy Award and was well received by fans and critics alike.

John Legend and Stevie Wonder's Duet "What Christmas Means to Me"

As part of his A Legendary Christmas album, Legend worked with Stevie Wonder to sing "What Christmas Means to Me."

The song blends the two singers' voices together perfectly, and has an upbeat feel to it, with percussion scoring the song and joyful lyrics.

John Legend and Kelly Clarkson's Duet "Baby It's Cold Outside"

Another song on his hit Christmas album, Legend's rendition of "Baby It's Cold Outside" rewrote the story of a Christmas classic.

Although Kelly Clarkson's part remained the same, Legend's responses to her are different than the original, encouraging her to leave and even ordering a car for her instead of trying to convince her to stay and drink more.

Maria Carey and John Legend "When Christmas Comes"

Of course, Legend's Christmas music portfolio has to include the queen of the season herself, Mariah Carey. In 2011, Legend and Carey teamed up to record a duet of this already-released track by Carey, and made it a worldwide hit.
