Jimmy Fallon's Kids Were So Little Reading His Everything Is Mama Book to Their Mom

The Tonight Show host couldn't get enough snuggles with his daughters Winnie and Franny.

By Kaitlin Kimont

Ever since Jimmy Fallon and his wife Nancy Juvonen first became parents over a decade ago, The Tonight Show host has made it clear that being a dad is his favorite job of all. In fact, he’s written several children’s books inspired by his experience, including Everything Is Mama, Your Baby’s First Word Will Be Dada, and Papa Doesn’t Do Anything.

Fallon and Juvonen welcomed their first child, daughter Winnie Rose, in July 2013. Their second daughter, Frances “Franny” Cole, was born in December 2014. Since then, Fallon's daughters have made life at home fun by pulling April Fools’ Day pranks with paper plates full of whipped cream and baking with Dad (hold the whipped cream).

"I have the best kids, they're awesome," the Saturday Night Live alum shared on Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist in 2024.

Winnie and Franny have been adorable staples of The Tonight Show, and it’s hard to believe they were so little just a few years ago, in this sweet video for Mother’s Day in 2020.

Jimmy Fallon's kids were so little in this sweet video of them reading Everything Is Mama

In the video, Fallon cuddles up with daughters Winnie and Franny to read his 2017 children’s book, Everything Is MAMA. The New York Times bestseller features colorful illustrations of baby animals learning all sorts of words beyond what tends to be their favorite: “mama.” And right on cue, just as Fallon begins to read the book, his youngest daughter repeatedly says “mama.”

“Everything is mama, according to you. But there are other fun words you’ll want to know, too!” Fallon reads aloud, asking his girls to identify the animals and objects in the pictures.

Winnie shows off her reading skills as Fallon turns the pages, while she tries to adorably wangle a very wiggly Franny back to the book.

As Winnie reads one page aloud, Franny repeats her. “You can read?!” the big sister yells, making everyone burst out in laughter.

“Yeah, you can!” Fallon says.

“No, I can’t,” Franny giggles.

“Well, you’re about to!” Fallon tells his little girl as they continue to read through the pages.

“Mama is everything, according to you, But one day you’ll see, mama’s everything is you!” Fallon reads as he nabs a quick snuggle with his daughters.

“Happy Mother’s Day! We love you so much!” he says directly to the camera in a message for his wife and then shrugs as his girls run away.

Jimmy Fallon says his daughters are the “best thing” to ever happen to him

Speaking to Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb during an appearance on TODAY in 2020, Fallon said fatherhood is the “best thing to ever happen to me.”

“They’re the best, they’re so cute,” he said of his daughters, going on to share a universal, yet harsh reality of them growing up. “I’m starting to get the eye rolls now though, where daddy’s not the funniest person in the world.”

As Winnie and Franny continue to get older, Fallon has admitted that he and Juvonen aren’t always handling their girls' new independence all that well. In 2024, Fallon shared with E! News that his daughters went to summer camp and that it was a “traumatic” experience for him.

“I don't know why they asked us to go,” Fallon said. “I go, ‘Why would you want to go somewhere else? You have such a great life here with dad and mom.’ They're like, ‘we're ready to go.’ And they had the best time.”

Fallon added it was “so sad” for him and his wife, especially as they could only chat with them for a couple minutes. “You couldn’t talk to them. There was a call time between 10:30 and 10:45. It was like they were in prison,” he joked. “It’s like ‘I’m coming to get you out honey! You didn’t do anything wrong! I’m coming to get you. It was a very traumatic summer for us. They’re growing up and it’s all kind of happening.”
