Jack Black Shocks Chester Cheetah in Hysterical "Flamin' Hot" SNL Cheetos Commercial

The April 5 Host horrified Chester Cheetah by putting the orange spicy stuff in the worst possible place.

By Samantha Vincenty

There was a 20-year gap between Jack Black's last Saturday Night Live episode in 2005 and his fourth time hosting on April 5, 2025 — but the A Minecraft Movie actor hasn't lost a step. Black brought his A game to the memorable Season 50 entry, and the night's sketches made great use of his larger-than-life energy. Case in point: Every single expression he brought to SNL's "Flamin' Hot" Cheetos commercial parody.

How to Watch

Watch Saturday Night Live Saturdays at 11:30/10:30c on NBC and Peacock, streaming next day on Peacock.

SNL ads typically fall into two buckets: They're either touting exactly what they say they are (as with Shane Gillis's "CouplaBeers," or Phil Hartman's classic "Colon Blow") or they take a turn you never could've anticipated. "Flamin' Hot" definitely falls in the latter category, as this is no snack commercial.

Jack Black tries Flamin' Hot Preparation H in SNL's sketch

Dressed in bright Cheeto orange, Black storms into a boring house party with his pal Chester Cheetah. "-Mild?! I ain't no child. I need it wild," Black's character Stuart says, as they douse wings in extra hot sauce. "And when it's time to deploy some major snackage, only Flamin' Hot will do," he adds, as he chomps into a Cheeto and animation makes his head burst into flames.

That's when Chester gets unexpectedly serious. "But let's shoot straight, king. All that in-your-face flavor can really mess up your butt," the animated cat tells the camera. "You need fast relief. You need the cooling touch of Preparation H."

But Black has other ideas — specifically, a fiery orange, Flamin' Hot Preparation H that boasts "20,000 Scoville units, playa." (Anyone who's seen Hot Ones knows that's not something you want you-know-where. "You need to fight fire with fire, G," he tells a shocked and disgusted Chester Cheetah.

"Oh, Stuart, come on. You're scaring me, man," Chester says, declining his friend's request to "Help me spread it around."

Jack Black brings a uniquely Jack Black level of commitment to the payoff: A beet-red close-up of his agonized face, the partygoers looking on in horror, as he screams, "THIS WAS A MISTAKE!"

Watch "Flamin' Hot" from Season 50, Episode 16 above, and stream all every season of Saturday Night Live on Peacock anytime.

Jack Black's second SNL episode was Kenan Thompson's debut

During his April 5 SNL monologue, Black performed an SNL-themed cover of Aerosmith's "Back in the Saddle." As he walked back from the crowd to the Studio 8H stage, Black briefly acknowledged a bit of Saturday Night Live trivia: His second time hosting on October 4, 2003 marked Kenan Thompson's very first episode as a cast member.

"The last time I was here was 20 years back / But now everybody knows you're in the cast — it's Kenan!" Black sang, giving Thompson a side hug. To date, Thompson remains the longest-running SNL cast member of all time, and that's definitely worth singing about.
