Is The Americas New Tonight? (April 20, 2025)

The main series may be over, but The Americas has one more treat in store for viewers.

By Matthew Jackson

Last week, The Americas closed out its original 10-episode run with "Patagonia," a grand tour of the natural wonders of the title South American region. It marked the end of an epic journey across two continents and numerous vibrant ecosystems, covering everything from rainforests to mountain ranges, deserts to tundra.

How to Watch

But The Americas is not technically over yet. Sure, the main series has come to an end, but host Tom Hanks and the show's crew still have one more treat in store for loyal viewers. So, when can you watch the last installment of this journey? Let's take a closer look.

Is there a new episode of The Americas on NBC tonight, April 20, 2025?

Yes! Well, sort of. If you tune in expecting to have another installment of the main docuseries featuring a wide array of animals built around a common regional theme, you might be disappointed, but The Americas is offering something different this week.

On Sunday, April 20, viewers can tune in for The Making of The Americas, an hourlong behind-the-scenes special that explores how intrepid camera crews ventured out into the American wilderness to capture everything from blue whales in the Pacific to harpy eagles in the forest. It's an up-close look at just how tricky it is to catch natural wonders on camera, and how all of those moments of great camerawork came together for one epic series. And, as always, Hanks will be your narrator and guide.

How many episodes of The Americas are left?

Sadly, this is the final episode of The Americas in any form, at least until someone decides to go back and shoot more wonderful American nature for another season of the series (alas, nothing has been announced as of yet). Over the course of nearly three months, we've gotten to know North, South, and Central America across 10 gorgeously rendered episodes, and with the "Making of" special airing tonight, the series is coming to a proper end.

But that doesn't mean you have to stop exploring The Americas yourself. Every episode of the series is now streaming on Peacock, where you can watch and rewatch as often as you like. Click here to stream all 10 episodes of the season.
