Season 50 was one for the books — and there's only three more episodes left.
It's tough for a show to outdo itself after five decades on the air. But Saturday Night Live Season 50 managed to deliver consistent political parodies — like April 12's 2025 Easter Cold Open and The White Potus sketch, both starring James Austin Johnson as Donald Trump — while proving its format still leaves room for surprising experimentation.
Case in point: Timothée Chalamet's double duty episode in January, in which the Academy Award nominee earned laughs in sketches like "New Barista Training" and surprised audiences who wondered what the actor would do as Musical Guest. In fact, he paid homage to Bob Dylan, who he portrayed in the 2024 A Complete Unknown, performing three songs by the legendary singer-songwriter as Dylan himself did during his own turn as Musical Guest.
As with every season, 50 also brought new surprise cameos. Dovetailing with the network's many 50th anniversary celebrations, many cameos were from beloved former cast members that included Maya Rudolph, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, David Spade, and Andy Samberg, who even gifted us with two new videos from The Lonely Island. Timothée Chalamet! NBC will re-air his January 25, 2025 episode. SNL will return next week on May 3 with second-time Host Quinta Brunson with Musical Guest Benson Boone.
