How to Watch The Making of The Americas Special
The behind-the-scenes documentary of NBC's hit nature docuseries is now streaming on Peacock!
The sweeping production behind NBC's The Americas is nearly as impressive as the natural environments depicted in the hit docuseries narrated and scored by Oscar-winners Tom Hanks and Hans Zimmer, respectively. Fans can now go behind-the-scenes in a capstone special, The Making of The Americas, which chronicles the five-year journey across 180 expeditions — in some of the most extreme locations on Earth, we might add — to bring the show to vivid life.
Join Hanks and the rest of The Americas crew as they reveal the perils and breakthroughs of the trailblazing series. Some of its most impressive filmmaking feats included braving corrosive waters high up in the Andes, weathering lightning storms in the Amazon, establishing trust with a wild puma, and mounting cameras on the back of whales.

"The special will explore the dedication, fieldcraft, humor, heart, and innovation that came together to create one of the most ambitious wildlife series ever produced," reads the official synopsis.

"A ton of it is also just me reacting to this footage," Hanks said about his narration during a Today interview back in March. "There are times where I cannot believe what I am looking at. There is not a moment of artificiality in there. Nothing has been CGI'd ... [You ask yourself], 'How long is someone bent over an eyepiece of a camera, saying, I think the bee is going to land where the other bee is'?"
